An egress window is a window large enough to provide entry or exit in case of an emergency or fire. Coastal Windows has an exclusively designed egress system that makes virtually all of our windows egress code-compliant, offering homeowners a wider and more complete selection when choosing windows for the home.

The Coastal Egress System is another industry first by Coastal Windows. Our Egress System is actually a window frame, not a window itself. This means multiple smaller window units can be placed into the Coastal Egress Frame, enabling smaller units to swing open for egress as one large unit.

Building Code
Emergency Escape and Rescue:
Current building code states that every sleeping room below the fourth story above grade plane shall have not fewer than one exterior emergency escape and rescue opening in accordance with Section 1030 of the International Building Code. The openings shall be operational from inside the room to provide a full clear opening without the use of keys or tools.
All egress or rescue windows from sleeping rooms shall have a minimum net clear opening of 5.7 sq.ft. The minimum net clear opening height dimension shall be 24 inches. The minimum net clear opening width dimension shall be 20 inches. Where windows are provided as a means of egress or rescue, they shall have a finished sill of not more than 44 inches above the floor.

Dimensional Divided-Lite Grids are adhered to the inside and outside of single-pane glass for a true windowpane appearance.

Installation
Nail Flange or Block Frame. All windows and doors are manufactured with nail flange, allowing for easy installation in new construction. The flange can be easily removed for replacement applications (block frame).
